For the director of music

Note: working through the anxiety with which the Lord saw fit to test me. A once off kind of poem. Inspired loosely by Sufjan Stevens and Psalm 139.

Understand that the song is yet unmade

And no mind knows it

And you have not played a note.

Count every unplayed beat and find

That melody, harmony, and rhythm together

Outnumber the grains of sand.

Already the audience takes their seats

And you have not yet played a note

But smooth the unsanded grain.

The harmony has already begun

And every heart has heard it.

Though you have not played a note.
